1. apologize for（道歉）
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.（我們對造成任何的不便感到抱歉。）
2. approve of（贊成；同意；稱許）
She doesn't approve of alcohol in any form.（她不贊成任何類型的酒類。）
3. argue with（爭論）
I won't argue with you; I can see your mind's made up already.（我不會跟你爭論，我可以看出你心意已決。）
4. blame（someone）for（something）（怪罪）
I blame myself for all that happened yesterday.（我為昨天發生的事感到自責。）
5. contrast with（對照，對比）
If you contrast some of her early writing with her later work, you can see just how much she improved.（如果你對比一下她的早期作品和後期的作品，就會看出她進步有多大。）
6. contribute to（貢獻，捐獻，尤指錢）
Her family has contributed $50,000 to the fund.（她家給這項基金捐了五萬元。）
7. die of（死於疾病）
He died of a heart attack.（他死於心臟病。）
8. die from（死於非疾病原因）
He died from falling off the roof.（他死於從屋頂掉下來。）
9. excuse from（允許離開）
Can I be excused from class this afternoon?（我下午可以被允許離開教室嗎？）
10. furnish with（向某人提供）
Furnished with a compass and sandwiches, they set off for a day's hiking.（他們帶著羅盤和三明治開始了一天的徒步旅行。）
11. impose on（強加於）
I don't want them to impose their religious beliefs on my children.（我不希望他們把自己的宗教信仰強加於我的孩子。）
12. inflict on（使遭受，使承受）
The suffering inflicted on these children was unimaginable.（這些孩子遭受的痛苦無法想像。）
13. lecture on（教訓，訓斥）
His parents used to lecture him on his table manners.（以前他的父母經常批評他的餐桌禮儀。）
14. listen to（聆聽）
I'd rather listen to music than watch TV.（我寧願聽音樂也不要看電視。）
15. live for（為…而活著）
We should learn to live for other people, not for ourselves.（我們應該學著為別人而活，而不是為我們自己。）
16. present（someone）with（something）（贈送）
When he retired, they presented him with a gold watch.（當他退休時，他們給他一支金錶。）
17. rebel against（武力反抗；造反；反叛）
The people rebelled against the harsh new government.（人民起來反抗這個殘暴的新政府。）
18. reconcile with（someone）（和解；和好；重歸於好）
They finally reconciled with each other, after not speaking for nearly five years.（他們差不多有五年的時間連話都不說，但最後終於重歸於好。）
19. recover from（恢復過來）
He has just recovered from a serious illness.（他剛從重病恢復過來。）
20. stare at（注視）
Don't stare at people like that, it's rude.（不要那樣盯著人看，很不禮貌。）
21. start on（著手處理）
I'm just about to start on the cleaning.（我正要開始打掃。）
22. struggle with/against（鬥爭，抗爭）
For years she struggled with/against the establishment to get her theories accepted.（她與傳統勢力抗爭多年，力圖使自己的學說得到認可。）
23. work on（修理；改善）
His dancing technique is good, but he needs to work on his stamina.（他的舞技不錯，但還需要將身體練得健壯一些。）
